Why Most People Don’t Know Their 401k or 403b Plan’s True Cost

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Recently, Congress held hearings, and they proved that most 401(k) and 403(b) plans cost more than they should.

What does Congress see that most employers and employees don’t see?

Well, for starters, it is likely that you are paying more than the benchmark for recordkeeping and administration. And it’s also likely that you are paying more than you should for managed funds, index funds, and/or asset-allocation, target-date, lifecycle, lifestyle, and balanced funds.

Remember, that’s just for starters. The bottom line is this. You need to know the truth about your plan’s cost sooner rather than later.

By the way, did you know that you can ask me any question you want about your 401(k) plan, 403(b) plan, or IRA account?
